Ken Daneyko joined MSG Networks in 2006 and currently serves as a hockey analyst on MSG Plus for the New Jersey Devils. Daneyko can also be seen as a regular guest on MSG's comprehensive weekly hockey show "Hockey Night Live."
Aside from his responsibilities with MSG, Daneyko also co-hosts the "Ice Breakers" radio show with former New York Ranger, Ron Duguay, on Sirius-XM Satellite Radio. In addition, he serves as an alumni representative with the Devils.
Nicknamed "Mr. Devil," Daneyko was the 18th overall pick in the first round of the 1982 draft, the same year the team ended its run as the Colorado Rockies and became the New Jersey Devils. Following the draft, Daneyko spent one season in the American Hockey league before earning a full-time roster spot with the Devils in 1985.
Daneyko who won three Stanley Cups with the Devils, appeared in 1,283 regular-season games with the team, a franchise record, and ranks 35th in NHL history. Daneyko also leads the franchise in playoff games with 175 and appeared in every post season game until Game 4 against the Boston Bruins in the '02-'03 season, when his 165 game streak was snapped. He also holds the franchise record for consecutive game appearances, with 388. Daneyko closed out the '02-'03 season, and his career, with 36 goals, 142 assists, and 2,519 penalty minutes when he retired.
Daneyko has been recognized with awards from numerous organizations throughout his career. The Devils awarded him with the Unsung Hero Award in 1986 and in 1989 with the Good Guy Award. In 2000, Daneyko was honored with the Bill Masterton Trophy for perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey as selected by the Professional Hockey Writers Association.
The Devils paid tribute to Daneyko in 2006 when they retired his #3 jersey, making him only the second player in the team's history to be awarded this distinction, the first being fellow defensemen Scott Stevens.
Daneyko currently lives in Mendham, New Jersey and has two children, daughter Taylor Lyn and son Shane.
